Our Story

A place that feels like home, because it is one.

Old Sword Farm and Tea Room sits along Hanover Road in Gettysburg, a quiet stretch of Pennsylvania countryside where the pace slows and the bread rises longer. We started as a small family kitchen with a big idea: that good food doesn't need to be complicated, and that a cup of tea tastes better when you're surrounded by warmth and honesty.

Today, we still bake every morning. Our loaves are mixed by hand, our preserves are made from seasonal fruit, and our tea collection is chosen the way you'd choose a book for a friend — with care and conviction. Whether you're passing through Gettysburg or making the drive just for us, we hope you stay a while.

What Changes With the Seasons

The calendar guides our kitchen.

We let the seasons tell us what to make. Spring brings rhubarb and wild greens. Summer is strawberry and peach season. Autumn gives us apples and squash. Winter? Winter is when we slow down, bake bread, and steep tea.

Spring produce: fresh rhubarb and green herbs at Old Sword Farm Spring

Rhubarb & Greens

Wild ramps, first strawberries, and rhubarb from the garden. Light tarts, bright preserves, and teas blended with floral notes.

Summer harvest: ripe peaches and berries at Old Sword Farm Summer

Berries & Stone Fruit

Sweet peaches, juicy berries, and sun-warmed tomatoes. Iced teas, fruit galettes, and cold preserves that taste like July.

Autumn harvest: apples and squash at Old Sword Farm Autumn

Apples & Squash

Cider, spiced loaves, and hearty soups. The kitchen fills with cinnamon and sage as the days grow shorter and the bread rises longer.

Winter comfort: warm bread and steaming tea at Old Sword Farm Winter

Slow & Warm

Dark ryes, spiced chai, and rich chocolate teas. The kind of food that warms you from the inside out on a cold Gettysburg morning.

From Our Kitchen

What we make, made the old way.

We don't cut corners. Our bread is fermented slowly, our cakes are butter-rich, and our teas are loose-leaf — because shortcuts never made anything worth remembering.

  • Sourdough & artisan loaves, baked fresh each morning
  • Pastries, scones, and cakes from scratch
  • Over 40 loose-leaf teas, including house blends
  • Seasonal preserves, honey, and pantry staples
  • Light lunches and seasonal soups
  • Catering and special-order cakes for your events
